Discover more from THE VILLAGE!
The father wound runs deep within our community.
Within the Black and African Diaspora, often we are raised by fathers who were never physically present and if they were, they were not emotionally present - always stressed and exhausted from work (in my case).
I’ve added a new 30 min talk to the LIBERATEVILLAGE.COM healing app called ‘healing the father wound’.
For men, we are left to figure out what it means to be a man today as the trauma continues to build generation after generation and our bodies begin to give either through substance abuse, cancer, migraines, or in my case chronic body pain. We also have to heal the wounded masculine within ourselves to embody the healthy father archetype. When there is chaos around us, we can stand firm in our bodies with the deepest breaths accompanied by a relaxed nervous system. From this place we can be intentional about serving the needs of our families, communities, and the world.
For women, I believe there are not many options of emotionally mature men to choose from as a partner. Did you know 1/4 Black women will ever know what it’s like to be married? Also what I find often within women with unresolved emotional wounds with their fathers is difficulty with confidence, heightened anxiety, and a hard time integrating play/softening.
I believe there is a way.
I have hope!
On the masculine to feminine spectrum, I tend to lean more towards the feminine side. This is where I get my sensitivity, strong intuition, deep creativity from but it does come with it’s challenges. I’ve had to spend a lot of time practicing not getting swept away in the emotions and when it comes to being in relationship with women, allowing ya’ll to have your experience without getting into a unhealthy caretaker mode where I lose myself.
As I have been doing deep healing recently around my father wound, I can feel the firm grounding more and more in my body. I feel more at peace at being me. I feel more at home in who I am and my purpose. With women, I’m noticing I’m bringing more clarity and assertiveness as well as a deeper listening where I can be a loving and grounded witness.
It requires deep emotional work though.
It requires going back in times and grieving for the child that didn’t get the love, praise, and attention needed.
On the other side of grief is awareness of how powerful you really are and how powerful Spirit & The Ancestors sees you.
This is how we show us as healthy adults/elders/parents/ancestors is by not passing down our trauma to the next generation.
To help with the healing I’ve added a 30 minute interactive talk on the LIBERATEVILLAGE.COM app that provides guidance and practices to go deeper if you are looking to feel more confidence, peace, and love within yourself.
