The more I feel into my own pain as an African man, hear the experiences of African woman on my free 30 min phone calls, and understand the pain we have experienced as a collective, I’m in awe.
With all that we have experienced, we keep opening our hearts.
It amazes me our Ancestors got together in 1900 for the First Pan-African Congress (wikipedia link).
Some traveled by sea all the way to London since the plane wasn’t invented till 1903.
They organized for our liberation and for ARICAN UNITY.
AFRICAN UNITY is my next prayer for the world (listen on Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube).
These movements for our liberation, healing, and unity have been around for a long time.
It’s been a long and exhausting fight to simply be in the world.
We love so deeply and because of the deep European Ancestral shame, they see our big hearts as a threat (so confusing isn’t it?).
There is so much generational pain in the European bloodline - I know as I work with this in myself.
This pain that has caused us as Africans to hate ourselves and our identity.
With all the chaos and pain in the world, I find strength now by reading and listening about our Ancestors and engaging in ancient African spiritual practices.
The strength and hope I’ve been finding recently is what I used to create my next song, a genre I’m calling Afro-Indigenous Rap.
When we partner with our hearts and our Ancestors, something beautiful happens.
With this prayer, I’m inviting Black men and women to heal our emotional wounds for the children.
How is the European shame showing itself right now?
The reality of what we are witnessing is the breakdown of the Black family.
Some people will see it and reach out to me and some people will unsubscribe.
I’m actually very okay with that because I feel such a sense of urgency.
I can hold that sense of urgency in my body with grace because of how much I’ve been allowing myself to rest.
My invitation to you is to listen to the song wherever you at from on the way to work to in a plant medicine ceremony.
Reflect on your journey.
All the challenges you’ve navigated to get to this point.
How the Ancestors have guided you to this point.
You are still breathing and that means that Spirit has purpose for you in this lifetime.
TAKE A DEEP BREATH IN AND BREATH IN LOVE FROM THE DIVINE MOTHER (who is a Black woman if anyone was wondering).
This is one of my own practices as I heal the TSUNAMI of shame that is being divinely brought up 😅
The shame that says that says my own African identity doesn’t belong in the world (often in my own immediate and extended family).
This song AFRICAN UNITY is my prayer for the world, that we find strength to keep protecting our children. To keep fighting to build a relationship with our own inner child.
This is the way to find the innocence within us. To find grace to rest.
When we remember our own innocence, we see how important is to protect the innocence of the next 7 generations.
I’m always inviting in rest because we need your heart in the world more than ever.
Rest is the way we stay strong in the long fight ahead.
KEEP GOING. KEEP RESTING 🌍❤️🔥
