As the African Diaspora, our RAGE is always being suppressed in some form in a colonial context
This is what I find common within myself and others who I am coaching.
When we don’t look at it, it impacts our mental health.
When I notice I’m moving towards depression I always ask myself two things:
Where can I make space for more rest?
WHERE AM I NOT SAYING MY TRUTH?
If you’ve been a victim of abuse, which most of us experienced in some form during childhood, your NO was removed from you.
Now as an adult, it shows up in codependency, physical illness, low self-esteem, depression, lack of sleep and in many other ways.
I’ve been attending men’s retreats for 8 years, starting from being a participant around 26 years old to holding space for other men. The biggest shifts I’ve seen in myself and others is when the red tape is taking off and people are giving the space to feel and speak their truth without holding back.
Controlled chaos.
The opportunity is to create pockets of controlled chaos within our day to day lives (I put a talk on the app called DIY RAGE Ceremony to help with this).
Every time we allow ourselves to feel our RAGE, we become more skilled at using this emotion which is a natural part of the human experience.
We can then use that potent energy for creativity.
Within us all is an untapped well of energy waiting to be looked at.
To assist you on your journey of loving your RAGE, we now have a new series on the LIBERATEVILLAGE.COM app called embrace your RAGE which includes guided meditations and talks.
