Discover more from THE VILLAGE!
Recently, I’ve been opening up more about my mental health history with depression and there has been a resonance amongst LIBERATEVILLAGE.COM.
My last post received 34,600 views, 28 likes, a few comments, and several private emails.
If you are reading this and you are IN IT, I wanted to provide a tool to help you soften with yourself in the depression.
When we feel depressed it’s easy to push ourselves harder to get approval from others to feel a sense of safety and security in this wild world. My prayer is you find the space to rest, dance, and cry more with DEPRESSION PRAYER.
To help with the softening, I’ve also recorded a 12 minute video talking about my own experience with depression.
Depression is suppression of self
It’s the scream our body and inner child makes to us to slow down and love ourselves deeper
If you’ve survived abuse, especially child sexual abuse, our work will always be to allow ourselves to be the victim
To allow that voice to come out and speak the truth, even when it’s scary
Even when it will ruffle a lot of feathers.
Even when it hurts people who can’t see the harm they have caused us
We have to speak that truth for ourselves because we are our own saviors
Not a white man, not the white Jesus some of ya’ll pray too, and definitely not these institutions
We really have to grief together as a village and first that vulnerability requires intimacy with self
Become familiar with your depression, study it, and love it
Learn what are your usual triggers and the people around you who trigger the story of “I’m worthless”
I hope you find the music and this wisdom helpful for your own healing journey and please consider subscribing and contributing $5/mo for the restoration of the village and my own self care
