Discover more from THE VILLAGE!
Since I’ve noticed a bump in engagement on THE VILLAGE! from refining our focus for HEALTHY BLACK LOVE, I’ve been asking myself - what is it?
In spiritual and healing containers, you’ll often hear the words “sacred union” used to describe a conscious romantic relationship between a man and a woman.
There are a lot of Queens out there (85% of the 30,000 people who read these emails/posts are Black woman) but the mature masculine in the Black community is lacking.
We are in a time in history where Black men are the most insecure than they have ever been due to racism and colonialism.
I believe the antidote is to keep playing and imagining what a sacred union means for us individually. The more that we can be in conversation about this, the more that we can create a collective vision.
What I’m working towards is working with you more closely for us to create that together.
We can call Black men in, instead of calling them out.
John Wineland is a popular white facilitator focusing on intimacy between men and woman in the world of trauma and healing grabbing from David Deida’s work (The Way of The Superior Man is a great read!). In this talk called What Men Crave, he says we (men) are simple. With humor, he says we’re like dogs and can be trained. I would agree with him.
The way to invite more men into healing is to leverage what most masculine men respond the most to, sexuality.
Not to take the accountability off of us to do the work, but I believe when woman to learn to wield their sword of sexuality, we will follow you into intimacy.
I’m offering an alternative solution because we are moving at a dangerously slow place.
Sex is naturally the safest place for men to express their emotions. This is deep within our psyche.
The challenge is sexuality and our sexual desires still come with a lot of shame in today’s world and we don’t have healthy models of mature sexuality in Black culture.
These conversations are tender, complex, and can feel heavy, which is why in this talk I focus on PLAY.
In this talk, I slow down with some breaths, connect to my own inner child, and imagine what sacred union looks like for me. I also invite you to do the same and give space for that during the talk.
When we focus on what we’re calling in, we take more and more steps to create the world around us that will support the vision.
After the talk, I invite you to share what came up for you by posting a comment on the app.
FULL MOON MEDITATION has been getting good feedback on THE VILLAGE! is now out on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube. I am working on a similar style of meditation with a little more bounce/drums that will first be available on the app then other platforms.
On the talk co-regulation for deeper intimacy, a fellow Queen of the village left a really kind comment and also showed the power of listening to some of the talks with your partner. It can open the door to a lot of fruitful conversations. Thank you Camille for your heart!
At the height of Liberate (our former name) a few years ago, we had over 3,500 subscriptions. I’m working diligently to get THE VILLAGE! back up there to give us resources to bring on more healers and run in-person healing retreats and workshops in areas where there is a lot of use for the app. Thank you to those who have been investing in the village recently with trying out a paid subscription of $10/mo with a free 7-day trial.
