I’m disappointed in most of the organizing and fight for equality that I see today.
Because what I see is a bunch of emotionally stunted adults screaming out to the world, SEE ME!
This is not the African way.
This is what I call mind-based organizing.
Most people organize around their philosophies and knowledge of history around that particular group’s struggle.
Those with the loudest voice, charisma, and knowledge tend to stand out.
Yes their heart is somewhat there but the organizing is more centered around that person’s anger from the abuse they experienced.
I can hold empathy for this and still say that we really have to grow up and mature as a human collective and more importantly as the African Diaspora.
We have to move from SEE ME to SEE THE CHILDREN.
When we move from SEE ME to SEE THE CHILDREN, we begin to spend all that energy blaming and marching to building spaces for people to heal.
We spend more time with our own inner child and we spend more time organizing around change that will actually have lasting and sustainable impact.
The batsignal is in the air for all the empaths to embody the teacher archetype NOW.
Join us this Sunday at the Campfire to support your journey in remembering YOU ARE A TEACHER.
Stop waiting to get the next degree, stop waiting to complete the certification program, stop waiting for these white structures to validate you.
These are all the highly effective distractions of colonialism that prevent you from learning to trust yourself.
I don’t have a PhD in trauma or psychology yet I can take you deeper than 99.9% of therapists and psychologists out there. Why is that?
The books, the courses, even these posts can’t teach you about doing this work internally.
You can’t use the mind to understand the heart.
The truth is no one can teach you how to feel and no one understands your body more than you.
Publish that poem or host that yoga class in a local park of yours.
Stop waiting for permission from someone who does not care about our people.
Stop waiting for permission from an emotionally stunted elder.
A big part of my work is understanding how we got here because it helps me hold grace for myself and the world AND I have to be very careful that I don’t center my work around my mind.
When I stay rooted in my heart, organizing and making change becomes very practical.
How do I help the Black children right now?
How do I help Black families with a Black mother and father who are ready to call it quits right now?
How do I help Black fathers and Black mothers heal their wounds to become the healthy elder?
How do I help elders heal their wounds so we can stop running to this anti-Black justice system for our issues?
These are questions you should be asking yourself right now for your own local village.
I find when I keep my focus on the children, it’s easier to take more risks.
The challenge here is not taking the focus so off of you that you burnout.
I will always be working with burnout because I can’t help but want to help so many people.
This is why I train every day on strengthening my NO to create more boundaries for rest and play.
I’m refocusing my efforts on Baltimore because I believe we can grow this online village and restore the village on the ground at the same time.
It will take longer and once we figure out how to work together, we will really see the fruit of our efforts in figuring out how to work together.
If you’d like to catch up on what’s been happening with our fundraiser around Baltimore I’ve now organized all those posts under a new section of this publication - https://www.liberatevillage.com/s/baltimore
I caught up with Kyree yesterday over a 30 minute phone call and the big realization we both had is we need help.
If you’d like to donate to the fundraiser, please use the GoFundMe link below.
